Wade Smith

Wade Smith was born September 9, 1935 to the late Warsaw and Florence Smith.  He graduated from Boyd High School in Frederick, Oklahoma in 1955.

Shortly after graduation he became employed with the Central Leather Company as the Skiving Machine Repairman, where he remained until April 1959 when he enlisted in the United States Army.  Upon serving a few years protecting his country, he received an honorable discharge, March 1961.
After returning to home, he regained his employment with the Central Leather Company in Frederick, Oklahoma.

In May 1969 he went to work for Brown’s Motor Service Supply a family owned business as a mechanic where he was able to display his God given talent of working on cars fixing whatever was wrong with them.

In October 1982 he went to work for the General Telephone Company initially as a garage mechanic and later promoting to chief garage mechanic.  He was responsible for the fleet departments in Frederick, Temple, Tipton, Hollis, Purcell, Maysville, Lindsey all in Oklahoma and Russellville, Arkansas.  He was later transferred to Branson, Missouri working there until he retired in 1996.

During his employment with GTE he received the “Perfect GTE Attendance Award,” for the years of 1983-1991 never missing a day of work.

Wade has received many certification certificates to include, Aztec, ASC in Air Condition/Heater Technician, Coaching and Utility Truck Driving and Welding.

August 2, 1963 he married Lodie Francis Nolan and together they nurtured and raised five children, Lenora Hudson, Fonda Bowie, Yolanda Castleberry, Orlando Smith and Dr. Rosalind Sistrunk.  They have seven grandchildren, Kenneth Clark, Albert Hudson, Jr. (deceased), Orlando Hudson, Shelby Castleberry, Makalea Bowie, Jayson Castleberry and Aydin Sistrunk, one great grandchild, Chloie Hudson.

He is a faithful member of the Church of the Living God, C.W.F.F. where he as been very active for many years to include, Superintendent of the Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Trustee Board, member of the 6th District Brotherhood and he currently serves in the capacity of Church Treasurer.  He was ordained as a deacon in 1992.

He is active in his community through many acts of kindness from mowing the lawns of the elderly in his neighborhood, to working on vehicles of individuals without charging them to running errands.  He is known by many in his community as Wade can “fix” anything wrong with a vehicle!!!!
